Yikes! These two guys want to be president again. Oh, no!
Surely there must be someone--anyone--among the 360 million Americans who would be better, if not far better than Trump or Biden?
So, the second of the two worst presidents in living memory want to sit in the Oval Office again. Sigh.
President Joe Biden’s long expected announcement came in a vacuous video that was so crammed with cliches that there wasn’t any room left for what the hell he would want to do in his second term, but more of the same. “Let’s finish the job,” he said.
That should strike fear among Americans who can see with their own eyes the breaking bad of Biden’s first term. Does that mean continued inflation fueled by ferocious spending? More illegal immigration? The heartless avoidance of the unaccompanied children who are turned into virtual slaves? Am I so blinded by scorching sunlight of his successes that I’m not able to see them?
Then there’s ex-president Donald Trump’s great start to his presidential campaign. According to Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has “left a wake of destruction in the Sunshine State. Trump said:
The real DeSantis record is one of misery and despair. He has left a wake of destruction all across Florida and people are hurting because he has spent more time playing public relations games instead of actually doing the hard-work needed to improve the lives of the people he represents
Trump doesn’t explain why DeSantis won re-election by 19 percent, the largest margin of any Florida governor in 40 years. I guess Florida voters are so enamored of living in a failed state that they said, “Thank you. Can we have more misery?”
It’s as ludicrous as Biden claiming that Republicans want to do away with “personal freedoms.”
How can Americans dodge what seems like an inevitable replay of the last presidential election? How can better candidates be recruited and elected?
I’m not sure. But first, we can stop voting for candidates who are clearly incompetent, mentally challenged, imprisoned by their own egos, tools of special interests—whether corporate or organized labor—and physically not up to the job.
Second, we need politicians who have the courage to think and act for themselves and who put the public good above their own. I have in mind those who endorse either Trump or Biden because they fear to challenge someone who might have the power to stymie their political ambitions.
Third, the media need to stop blindly pretending that they're doing their job; they are poisoned by their politics and ideology. And that poisons us.
I can think of a multitude of candidates from both parties who would be better for our country than Biden and Trump. What they need to do is show themselves.

"I can think of a multitude of candidates from both parties who would be better for our country than Biden and Trump." But apparently Mr. Byrne does not wish to name any of them. I wonder if he's thinking of RFK, Jr., or Vivek Ramaswamy, or somebody else?
