Good gosh, didn’t President Joe Biden belt one out of the ballpark with his State of the Union speech?

Unexpectedly powerful speech, said his media partisans, echoing the surprising reaction even among his Democrat pols. Here are some examples of the delighted reaction the morning after:

Spirited; forceful; nimble; unexpectedly rousing; energized; fire breathing; a real rouser; brought the heat; invigorated; angry middle-class warrior; forceful Joe; angry Joe; loud Joe; game-on Joe; energetic, and in-your-face. And yet, showing gently mocking humor.

What explains this sudden turn-around from the confused Joe, tripping Joe, lost on the podium Joe that we all undeniably know.

Did he take something, some kind of booster? I know that sounds wild, even nutty, and I would hope that he didn't.

And yet, and yet…There are methamphetamines. It can “elevate mood, increase alertness, concentration and energy in fatigued individuals,” according to various definitions. It can produce euphoria, alertness, concentration, reduced sense of fatigue, wakefulness, self-confidence, sociability and grandiosity. Grandiosity, for sure.

By most accounts, that was a different man on the House podium, standing there for more than a hour and hobnobbing long afterward with his Democratic chorus after the speech. This is the new, no-nap Joe.

Someone who knows what he’s talking about drugs should take a closer look. Dilated pupils?

Still, whatever help he had, it didn’t stop Biden from unloading his usual barrow of malarkey. One example: The “one thousand billionaires” in American are paying 8.2 percent in taxes, he pronounced with all the certainty that he could round up. No, an analysis by the Treasury Department in November.found the top 1 percent of earners pay an estimated average federal income tax rate of more than 20 percent. Oh, never mind. It sounded good and Democrats in attendance ate it up.

By the way, the left is targeting Senator Katie Britt for the manner in which she delivered her response to Biden speech. They thought it strangely unprecedented that she spoke from her kitchen. The responses, her thoughtful critics bleated, historically have been delivered from a setting more formal and behind a podium. Oh, the humanity!

Sheesh. That’s the best they can do. At least she didn’t appear to be drugged.
