I’m a regular reader of “The Poynter Report with Senior Media Writer Tom Jones” just to see what far left media nonsense he’ll be defending today.
He recently outdid hiself with this comment about Disney, that as a corporation, “…it’s buttoned-up, and it tries to stay clear of controversy.”
Say what?
Was it trying to avoid controversy when it attacked Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act? Hard-left critics falsely labeled it the “Don’t Say Gay” law although the law itself doesn’t mention the word “gay.’
Actually the law limits the discussion of “sexual orientation” in kindergarten through third grade (read the actual language below at *)
But without obviously reading the law or intentionally lying about its contents, some Disney employees created a hoo-ha. So, like so many ill-informed ideologues, Disney announced it was flatly opposing the law.
I don’t know how Jones or anyone else can honestly claim that Disney “tries to stay clear of controversy.” Even the New York Times noted Disney’s failure to avoid it:
It was not the first time the corporation has been accused of adopting stances that conservatives said went too far. Over the past few years, Disney has made several changes to its theme parks and streaming services that have drawn criticism from the political right.'“
Maybe Disney just tries to avoid controversy if it only angers the far-left.
*The actual language of the law:
Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.
