The wisdom of Kamala Harris
Is she guilty of spectacular demagoguery or is she just flat-out ignorant?
For some inexplicable reason the Biden campaign honchos think it’s a good idea to roll out Vice President Kamala Harris as an attack dog.
As a campaign email declared: “Vice President Harris is a fearless and effective messenger….”
Except that the things that come out of her mouth are absurd, wrong and, sometimes (but not all) laughable. Lets visit some of her observations on her recent multi-state campaign tour.
She refuses to debate GOP presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The reason? “… there is no roundtable, no lecture, no invitation we will accept to debate an undeniable fact. There were no redeeming qualities of slavery.” [My emphasis]
She’s referring to one sentence in new Florida education standards that are a comprehensive and accurate outline of slavery. She has unbelievably twisted their meaning. I explain why here: “If you're criticizing Florida Gov. DeSantis and the state' standards for teaching about slavery, you ought to read them first.”
"Women in our country are having miscarriages in toilets." You know why of course, It’s those evil Republicans who are passing state laws to protect the unborn from “termination. To further clarify, she added, “"As I travel the country, it becomes clear to me that so many people in these state legislatures don't even know how women's bodies work.”
“Extremists here in Florida passed a law, ‘Don't Say Gay,’ trying to instill fear in our teachers that they should not live their full life and love who they love.” There’s no such law called that. She’s referring to the Parental Rights in Education Act that “reinforces parents’ fundamental rights to make decisions regarding the upbringing of their children.” Is she against parents having a say in how their children should be taught and raised?
That’s a brief summary. Just as funny (of scary) is the blind praise bestowed on her by the press:
[Putting Harris out as a campaign spokeswomen} is a “brilliant strategy that is borne not just of the campaign understanding her massive strengths, and when and how to use them, but of herself coming into knowing how effective she can be
“…her speeches to Black and Brown groups are "a powerful illustration of her ability to talk to important and critical audiences in the lead up to 2024"
“People were inspired by what they heard. They were motivated by what they heard. It brought some sense of revival,
Uh oh, now there’s this: “Dem voters more excited about a Kamala Harris presidency than second Biden term, poll says. A New York Times/Siena College poll, said 26 percent of Democratic primary voters would feel “enthusiastic” if Harris were the candidate, compared with 20 percent for Biden.
