Donald Trump and Kamala Harris both lost, pathetically so. Throw in the two ABC questioners, who undoubtedly will receive high praise from legacy journalists for their supposedly “tough” questioning.
It was so painful to watch, but I thought—mistakenly so—that as a citizen I had to watch to the whole pathetic thing.
The biggest loser? Donald Trump. What a load of crap: People eating their dogs, thanks to Biden/Harris? His mouth engaged, as usual, before his brain.
No, no one can overlook Harris’ smirking and her own misleading statements. And her stumbling answers as the debate ensued. Consider the first question that was put to her, to paraphrase: Are Americans better off today than they were four years ago.
She didn’t even come close to answering. You could see the wheels going around, trying hard to remember what she was coached to say. She rushed off into a digression about her growing up in a middle class family, blah, blah, blah. The ABC moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, let her get away with it.
She dishonestly accused Trump of following the Heritage Foundation’s “2025” plan, which he has repeatedly denied. Again, the moderators didn’t bother calling her on it. Incredibly, she tried to blame Trump for the Afghanistan withdrawal disaster, engineered by the Biden administration.
She never provided a convincing explanation why she so dramatically (and deceptively) moved from her extreme progressive views, to the center. It’s a joke.
But Trump—oh, Donald. Can’t you restrain yourself? Do you always have to speak in superlatives, hyperbole, and whoppers? Yes, a lot of people—too many—have died in the Ukrainian/Russian war. But “people being killed by the millions” as you falsely claimed? You’re your worst enemy.
How many times can you repeat the rhetoric about how “they are destroying our country.” Maybe the Democrats are but how many damn times do you have to say it again and again, as if the audience is stupid?
She succeeded in getting under your skin. Got you talking about the size of your crowds at your rallies. Got you talking about the “theft” of the 2020 election. You also botched your answers about your contribution to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Both candidates scare me. Trump because his extreme narcism runs him. Harris because she has no center, will say whatever it takes for her to realize her ambitions.
The test of who won is based on who won independent and moderate voters, the undecided in battleground states who will decide the election. Trump didn’t.
Trump is better on the issues. But it doesn’t matter, because issues don’t matter. Personality (forgive me) trumps issues.. Trump couldn’t help himself. He sounded like he was addressing one of his rallies.
Don’t let me forget about Muir and Davis. In the first hour, I believe I counted Muir “correcting” Trump three times, but Harris not once, even though there were plenty of opportunities to do so. There was no doubt where Davis stood on abortion. She threw in a “correction” that no state allows live babies that were aborted to die.
Ignorant, that. I’ve documented how a baby that was delivered live was allowed to die in a linen closet. She also ignored that Barack Obama, when he was a back-bench senator in the Illinois legislature, voted against legislation that would have protected the born-alive babies who were supposed to been aborted.
In the end, Muir and Davis, let Harris get away without explaining why her views have changed so drastically. Even worse, Trump did the same thing as well as failing to effectively emphasize the issues that appear to be most on voters’ minds.
Maybe there should be another debate is that Trump can recover. But for now, Harris is closing in on winning the election.
