In the GOP debate, the big, BIG loser was Trump.
He tells Republican voters to shut up and drop dead
Former President Donald Trump, a legend in his own mind, has skipped two Republican presidential debates, and if that pattern holds true, he will never show up to answer your questions. Any questions. Screw you.
I respect all Republican friends who believe that Trump is the only candidate—bar none—who is qualified to be the president who can solve our problems. But what does it take for you to be insulted—nay, pissed—by the nasty, arrogant, presumptive and sneering way he regards you?
Your job is to just show up at his rallies and feed his ego. He alone of all the candidates knows what is best for you. Just shut up and cheer when the applause sign goes on. Have some questions yourself? Forget it. If the press can’t ask him, do you think you can?
As a frequent Republican voter, I won’t stand for it.
And frankly it scares the bejabbers out of me. Here he comes, wanting to become a second-term, lame duck president. Which means that he doesn’t care what you or anyone else thinks; he won’t be mindful of public opinion because he can’t run again for a third term. (Well, maybe he thinks he can.)
Recall how his supporters hoped that he would pick knowledgeable and experienced advisors. That didn’t work out so well, did it? It will work out even less well when he is absent reasonable constraints in his second term.
If you watched the debate last night, you observed how rare it would be for you or anyone else to agree 100 percent with what any candidate wants or believes. No candidate is perfect. You understand that you might have to support a candidate with whom you have some disagreements.
Trump doesn’t allow you to do that. Because he doesn’t have to answer any questions. Sure, he’ll tell you he’ll do this and do that. But what about other issues he doesn’t mention? Or, who can ask him to defend any of his positions?
It’s what he has in common with President Joe Biden. Both don’t tolerate questions. Both don’t think that they have to respond to you. Both don’t think that they need to explain or justify their actions or platforms.
Both are damn dangerous.
"He alone of all the candidates knows what is best for you. Just shut up and cheer when the applause sign goes on. Have some questions yourself? Forget it. If the press can’t ask him, do you think you can?"
Lets see.... which presidential candidate were you talking about here? Donald Trump got beat by Joe Biden from the comfort of his own basement. It seems that experience has had such an impact on Donald, he bought the strategy himself. Trump knows that he like Biden is an empty suit. There isn't a republican candidate that couldn't beat Trump in a real debate aka skills challenge. And there isn't a democratic candidate who couldn't beat Joe Biden in the same type of examination. Oh. Wait. There isn't a democratic challenger. Until Robert Kennedy. Kennedy to his credit, is not satisfied with not even being able to present his ideas in the arena of ideas and actually face the president; is likely to become an independent (third party) candidate. DeSantis may not have to go as far. If he can simply prick the ever swelling pride of Mr. Trump he can bring him to the next debate and dispatch of one more empty suit.
Here is a prediction. Neither Trump nor Biden get their party's nomination. This is how the free market works. Ya gotta trust it but ya gotta work it.
