Here's an item that the press pretty much ignored: Hunter Biden is "stupid."
That's what some people who bribed him said--allegedly. So, why did they give him and Dad Joe millions of dollars--allegedly?
“Hunter Biden was stupid and [my] dog was smarter.”
That wasn’t a Republican. The assessment was made by Mykola Zlochnevsky, CEO and founder of Burisma, the Ukrainian gas and oil company that is at the heart of the investigation into allegations that his company paid millions of dollars of bribes to the Biden family. Another Burisma executive, Vadim Pojarskii, added that Biden was “not smart.”
That came during internal discussion about whether the company could buy a U.S. company and do an IPO. The problem was that Burisma was under a cloud because the Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was investigating it for corruption. Who would want to invest in a suspected corrupt company? Would U.S. regulators approve?
The answer? Hunter Biden. He was put on its board for $83,000 a month. His job? As an executive asked, would he be able to “protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems?” Apparently meaning to shut down the investigation or to get rid of the prosecutor? There was some concern about the success of such a project because Hunter is “stupid.”
This information was contained in a so-called 1023 report from the FBI that describes in detail suspected illegal activity by Hunter Biden. The information in the report came from a Ukrainian-American considered be a “highly credible” and trusted confidential FBI source. He was in on these discussions.
But the company went ahead with the bribes anyway, with $5 million to Hunter and $5 million to Joe, according to the informant.
Did it work? It looks like. Here’s President Biden describing how he called off the prosecutor:
Well, sonabitch, Shokin was fired. How about that? Replaced by someone who is “solid.”
That Biden tells this story, even if it had nothing to do with bribes, is odd, if not puzzling. He’s bragging about interfering in the internal affairs of another nation, something that’s frowned upon in diplomatic circles. Then again, maybe it’s Joe who’s not so bright.
Of course, the Biden apologists look at it differently, which is to say innocently. Here’s a “fact check” from USAToday: “Biden leveraged $1B in aid to Ukraine to oust corrupt prosecutor, not to help his son”
The story is that Shokin wasn’t investigating Burisma, or for that matter any other company for corruption. President Obama and others wanted Shokin to be replaced by an honest prosecutor who’d do his job and root out corruption in Ukraine. “Someone solid.”
Would this along with a growing mountain of incriminating evidence about Bidengate be enough to persuade a jury? You decide.
By the way, Burisma cut hunter’s monthly compensation in half two months after Joe stopped being the vice president.
