Donald Trump, you've got such a fragile ego; it could cost you the election.

Donald Trump deserves credit for appearing at the National Association of Black Journalists. Donald Trump then proceeded to blow it by remarks that won’t get him any more votes and, in fact, will lose him some.

He more than suggested that Kamala Harris lied about her race. He claimed that she wasn’t really black. And after a ton of negative reaction, he did the same thing again with snide remarks about her race on his blog. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Those were the second words out of his mouth, after insulting the questioner for being rude. Is your ego so fragile that it hurt because she didn’t say “hello”? Or “Thank you for coming”?

There was a kernel of truth in challenging her ethnicity. Her father came from Jamaica where much of the population is descended from black slaves. Indeed, her father had black people in his lineage.

No matter. You’ve handed more ammunition to the opposition who will use it to scare away independent and uncommitted voters, who you need especially now that Harris has hit the ground running.

I oppose Harris for a variety of substantial reasons, but not because of her race. You stepped on a cow pie, Donald. Those of us who are counting on you once again are deeply concerned that you are bungling the campaign and ensuring four more years of progressive insanity.
