Anyone else agree that Las Vegas was perfect for the Super Bowl? Gaudy. Overwrought. Tiresome.
I love football as much as any guy. But turning it into some kind of national holiday is, for me, a complete turn-off.
Long and endless analyses throughout the day repeating every obvious thing that can be said about the teams, the starts, the coaches, girlfriends. Goofy features filling time. Over the top half time featuring…I don’t know. Fighter jet flyover. So many commercials that they slow down the pace of the game. Announcers intoning the greatness of what we’re seeing. Solemnity worthy of a religious feast day. All we’re missing are hosannas.
Just play the game, why don’t cha?
As I noted elsewhere, the NFL no longer cares about the grumpy old codger demo, of which I am member. I was watching Columbo reruns for most of the game.
