A thought for tax day: Illinoisans are among the most heavily taxed in America
Florida is among the lowest.
Yet another reason to flee Illinois. I did; now living in Florida where’s there is no income tax and property tax is lower.
Because of the differing complexities of the states’ tax codes, comparisons are often hard. But WalletHub took a shot and came up with an unsurprising result: Illinois has the ninth highest tax burden. (New York has the worst.) Florida ranks 46th.
An accompanying report has some interesting facts. “Such asAmericans spend 6.5 billion hours doing taxes each year. The average person spends 13 hours and $250 completing their 1040.”
